The rare, semi-aquatic sitatunga antelope lives in the swamps of Kasanka, and Kapabi is where visitors have the best chance of seeing one. An 18-metre platform hide, built into a mululu tree, overlooks the swamp from above the canopy.

Sitatunga are elusive and the viewing rewards early starts and late afternoons. The same vantage point is good for birds: Kasanka has over 330 recorded species, among them Pel’s fishing owl, pygmy goose, Ross’s loerie, osprey, wattled crane and the rare shoebill.
