The Luwombwa is Kasanka’s river, and the park’s fishing centres on it — tigerfish, bream and barbel. Tackle is not provided, so anglers should bring their own.

The river also makes for unhurried time on the water between wooded banks, and it complements the park’s leisurely nature walks and game drives. Kasanka sits on the south-western edge of the Lake Bangweulu basin, and the waterways here are what give the park its birdlife, with over 330 species recorded.
